Matthew Scholz is the CEO and co-founder of Oisín Biotechnologies, a company developing genetic medicines for health and longevity, with lead programs in frailty, targeted fat ablation, and mild cognitive impairment. Oisín's therapies are built on a non-viral, DNA-based delivery platform (proteolipid vehicles) that can carry DNA, rather than only RNA, into a broad range of cells, enabling constructs that encode transcriptional "logic" so a therapy acts only in the intended cells.

Previously, he was the founding CEO of Immusoft, where he pioneered the first engineered B cell therapy to enter human clinical trials. He has co-founded several other biotechnology ventures, including OncoSenX, which develops vectored immunotherapies, transcriptionally targeted suicide gene therapies, and in situ CAR-T therapies, and Sigma Genetics, which is developing a new class of nucleic acid delivery technology based on powerful pulsed magnetic fields.

For more than 17 years, Matthew has worked at the intersection of computer science and genetic medicine. Over that time, he has helped introduce three novel therapeutic modalities to the field and contributed to treatments for multiple life-threatening diseases, including vectored immunoprophylaxis for HIV and Ebola. An inventor with dozens of patents spanning transfection technologies, immune cell programming, in vivo production of therapeutic proteins, immunomodulation, senolytics, and longevity, he has raised substantial investment and grant capital, built high-performing teams, and negotiated major licensing agreements with leading academic institutions and pharmaceutical companies.

He frames aging as, at root, an engineering and information problem. As he puts it, you will never take enough pills to fix aging – you have to upgrade the body's biological "source code." In his view, the field's rate-limiting step is delivery: reaching enough of the right cells, with enough built-in control logic that a therapy acts only where it should. That thesis drives Oisín's focus on programmable, non-viral delivery, and his emphasis on frailty reflects a conviction that no durable path to longer healthspan bypasses the preservation of strength and muscle, with a longer-term arc toward giving people meaningful control over their own genetic fate.

A frequent speaker at universities, scientific conferences, and industry events, Matthew also mentors early-career scientists and entrepreneurs through organizations including Global Biotech Revolution, The Knowledge Society (TKS), and the Longevity Biotech Fellowship (LBF), and has served as a mentor for recipients of the Thiel Fellowship. He continues to advise startups working to translate longevity science into impactful therapeutics.
