Samim
Sharifi, PhD

Dr. Samim Sharifi is a biotechnology entrepreneur and scientist working at the intersection of genome integrity, aging biology, oncology, and genetic medicine. He is the Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Matter Bio, a longevity biotechnology company focused on understanding, measuring, and repairing the forms of DNA damage that accumulate with age and contribute to disease.
Dr. Sharifi’s work is centered on a core idea in aging biology: that the stability of the genome is fundamental to cellular health, tissue function, and long-term organismal resilience. His scientific interests include DNA repair, somatic mutation detection, large-payload gene delivery, cancer biology, and the development of therapies inspired by mechanisms found in long-lived species and exceptional human longevity.
Across the Matter Bio ecosystem, Dr. Sharifi has helped advance technologies designed to measure rare genetic damage with high sensitivity, identify gene programs that may improve DNA repair, and develop therapeutic approaches for diseases strongly linked to aging, including cancer. He also serves as Chief Scientific Officer of Loki Therapeutics, where he has contributed to the development of an attenuated Listeria-based immunotherapy program designed to mobilize immune memory against solid tumors.
Dr. Sharifi has helped translate discoveries in genome integrity and aging biology into patentable technologies, preclinical development programs, and collaborations aimed at advancing new therapies for age-related disease.
His broader mission is to help shift medicine from treating the late consequences of aging toward addressing its underlying biological drivers. Through his work, Dr. Sharifi aims to contribute to a future in which protecting and restoring the genome becomes a central strategy for extending healthy human lifespan.
