Lee, Ph.D.

Mitchell B. Lee, PhD, is a biologist, entrepreneur, and educator whose work focuses on the biology of aging and the translation of longevity science into interventions that improve human health. He received his PhD in Pathology from the University of Washington, where he studied the molecular and genetic mechanisms of aging using model organisms, and subsequently completed postdoctoral training in neurodegeneration and Alzheimer's disease research.
Dr. Lee is the Co-Founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Ora Biomedical, a biotechnology company dedicated to discovering interventions that extend healthy lifespan. Under his leadership, Ora Biomedical developed advanced automated phenotyping platforms and AI-enabled technologies to accelerate longevity drug discovery. He led the company from initial concept through technology licensing, fundraising, team development, and commercialization.
In addition to his entrepreneurial activities, Dr. Lee serves as an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington. He has mentored dozens of students and trainees and is committed to expanding access to scientific education and career development. He founded the GeroScience Peer Review Training Program, which has trained early-career scientists in the peer-review process, and has contributed to numerous educational initiatives within the aging research community.
Dr. Lee is an active advocate for advancing the field of geroscience and translating scientific discoveries into meaningful societal impact. His interests span aging biology, neurodegeneration, biotechnology commercialization, scientific training, and the development of programs that improve population health. Through his research, leadership, and outreach efforts, he works to accelerate the discovery and implementation of interventions that extend healthy human lifespan.
